Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Sullivan is a native of in and brought up within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam, Jazmine's mother, was a backing vocalist in the band Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years of age, her dad landed an appointment as the curator of the city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historical landmark. In 2005 she graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of singer-music major. Sullivan was first singing in the kids' choir as a contralto and then she joined the adult chorus a couple of years after that. He was exposed to secular music but was at first limited "I performed solo at the church, and I was asked to be a part of an evangelical label when I was 11 years old, but I wasn't yet ready," she recalls. "Then when McDonald's had a competition for children in cities of the world and I was offered the chance to perform 'Accept what God Gives' on Showtime at the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". When she was 13 years old, she sang along to Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan signed her first contract with Jive Records when she was 15. At the age of 15 She was signed by Jive Records. She made an complete album, but it didn't get released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. She maintained a working relationship with Missy Elliott she produced a number of the tracks for her debut project, like the huge hit track "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
