Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the arts of performing, and which we now know by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly be a qualifier to being in the "child prodigy" category. These traits were natural to a person born in Ireland. by gifted parents and a loving, supportive family. Maureen was born in Ranelagh an area in Dublin - Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed a business in Dublin as well as owned a part of the famous Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons is the second child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out the wonderful family. Maureen was an athletic natural and was a fan of tough sporting games. Her passion for sports was matched by an equally natural aptitude to perform. That was apparent when she was awarded each Feis for theatre and drama which Ireland could provide. When she was in her 14th year she joined the Abbey Theater to follow her dream and study classical theatre and operatic vocals.
